I found my thrill...

on blueberry hill.

One of our Misty So. Highbush's is currently producing delicious blueberries. It's mosty spring here now, and this plant produces early. It also survives the blistering San Fernando Valley summer heat with no problem.

Sue's working on a raised bed for them, we have five, and when done, it'll be our own blueberry hill. We'll post photos when's it's done.

Sunflowers

Just six weeks ago they were little bitty seedlings. Now they're starting their explosive growth.

Malo's back and so are we

Things have been frenzied these past several weeks, hence the dearth of posts. However, things have calmed down a bit, plus it's Spring. So, posting will resume now.

Malo emerged from hiberation yesterday. This was his first ever hiberation, and he snoozed for several months.

Large cactus

Not sure of the species, it came from Sue's Dad, and was moved from place to place from a while. It's happily out of a pot, in the ground, and thriving here in the semi-arid San Fernando Valley area of L.A. It's about 4 feet tall and I'm guessing 15-20 years old.

Cactus

3cactus-0644.jpg

Recently bought these and just transplanted them. Cactus are amazing, they can tolerate little or no water, and temperature extremes ranging from way below freezing to well over 100.

A cactus expert once told me, you can't water them too much, but you can water them too often.

White Sage seedlings

whitesageseedlings-0644.JPG

As mentioned, last year I tried 500 seedlings and just one made it. This year I found some old seed, tried it, and twelve are sprouting. Here's two of them.
