Compare this to the Before photos. They did a lot just on the first day, transplanted most everything in the middle, prepared side gardens. It will be re-sodded soon.

Remodeling continues

Two of our dumpsters get hauled away. Quite a contraption, isn't it?

Completed Barn

Barn completed Nov 17 2006 #2.JPG

Finally! The barn has been completed. When we bought the place, the barn was only partially completed, and we've wanted to finish it ever since we moved in. In this photo you can see the old part (concrete block) and the new part (wood siding) which doubles the usable space. And of course the chicken coop.

The guys building the barn said it was the nicest chicken coop they'd ever seen. When we told them we planned to insulate it (to keep the chickens from freezing when it hits ten below), they said, "Don't waste it on chickens-- rent it out to people!" I think we'll stick with poultry. They're never late with the rent.

Crawling around

Since we've moving soon, we plan to find a new home for Malo "The flesh-eating turtle from Hell." Ask Sue's finger about the "flesh-eating" part...

Here's our little buddy crawling around.

Remodeling

The work on the back yard is about to begin. Many photos coming soon!

Preparing a house for sale is a big job, or maybe better put, a thousand small jobs.

Before

The back yard has been a work in progress for months. Now that we're moving, we're getting a pro in to finish it up, give it focus, and make it into a major selling point.

These are the before pictures.

Reason #137 we're moving to Connecticut

It was 88 yesterday and will be 90 today and tomorrow. Could we please have Fall?

(Yes, I know there will be February mornings where's it's -10 in Connecticut. I don't care!)

Fondling the catalogs

oldhousegardens.jpg

In the San Fernando Valley, we go directly from winter to summer, with no mild weather suitable for dutch bulbs. Tulips "blast" -- come up looking like somebody lit a match under each leaf.

One good thing about the proposed move to Connecticut: spring. I'm fondling the catalogs. Check out the tulips at Old House Gardens. Sadly, they are already sold out -- but a girl can dream.

Still reseeding!

A few tomatoes are still ripening, the roses continue to bloom, and about most of the work on reseeding the lawn is done. Whew.

The days are nice, in the 70's, down to the 50's at night.

In a few months we may be moved to snow country. Yes, it can get cold there. But I won't miss 119 degree days at all.
